1. I GUESS I'M GOING TO NEW YORK CITY (maybe). columbia anesthesiology just sent me an email to tell me that they would be delighted to have me in their residency class and plan to rank me accordingly. YESSSSsss! (it might be a generic email) currently they are ranked in my top 3 (not #1 and maybe not #3) so that basically means that i'm going to match in NYC (since #1-#8 are all in NYC). now if i can just get a nice email like that from my #1 (and also my #1 preliminary year choice) then i'll be all set. but this calls for a celebration (possibly). i'm going to order chinese and pass out in front of the television.
2. i'm post-call. last night was a pretty good pace for a call night. we kept steadily busy until about 7pm, had time to eat dinner (sitting down, like normal people), and then had plenty (as in too much) time to prep our paperwork for an incoming admission which didn't transfer out of the ER until close to midnight. by the time we got that patient tucked in for the night, i was able to crash and get about 5 hours of sleep (unheard of!) and didn't miss any admissions overnight. also i sent home 3 of my patients, and this new one is going home today. so that means tomorrow i return with ZERO patients under my name! which is kinda bad because that means i'm picking up EVERYONE that comes in.
3. this snowstorm we're having may fuck me in the end. rumor has it that many patients may not be coming in today because of the road conditions, and might wait til tomorrow. FUCK! see #2
4. i had a haircut scheduled for today, but it's been cancelled because the spot is closing early due to the storm. FUCK! having only 1.5 days per week off makes it very difficult to get things done during normal business hours.
5. better order that general tso's right now, before the snow gets worse..
