so i gave this bitch a breather, thought i'd concentrate on some more important things like my future, WELL THATS BORING (and i've gotten a lot of that paperwork done now anyway [thanks for your skillz liz]) and now that i've got a few more minutes to kill maybe i'll stick it out. clearly the four of you that read this are rejoicing.
i've got this week off, which is NOICE. just dropped off an "info-packet" of fun stuff for the anesthesiology chairman, which includes exclusive items such as my CV, personal statement, and transcript! WAOW!
tonight i go to beloit to pick up my suit and a ginormous suitcase, the rest of the week will be spent packing and repacking and doubletriplechecking to make sure i'm not leaving things behind that i will most definitely need like an alarmclock extracontactlenses or shoes. then saturday i leave for NYC!
i don't know where this whole "not-using-the-spacebar" thing came from.
i've been listening to pulp's "we love life" all morning. totally slept on that one.
anyhow. i'll be
soooo sure to update this as much as possible during my stay at the hotel tam'bard. maybe i'll take a picture or two as well.
p.s. amy and i went to tutto "butto" pasta (it's been years since i've been) on the square this weekend and i had farfalle al salmone and it was freaking amazing. also the spumoni cheesecake was deeeelish.

i reneg on the hiatus. must update out of sheer excitement.
today i finished my 6 week run of anesthesiology at UW. kinda sad to have it end. i really love working in that department.
flipside: got 2 invitations to interview today!
1) columbia university (manhattan)
2) SUNY downstate (brooklyn)
#1 kinda blows my mind because they're known to be kind of a tough program to get into and let me tell you right now that i am no academic pearl.

i just confirmed and submitted my online application and fired off apps to about a million places. anesthesia being an "advanced" program, i also have the pleasure of applying for a transitional year. although, since radiology, dermatology, ophtomology, and other anesthesia applciants are also vying for TYs (in my cities of choice: chicago and NYC), and they are all much smarter than me, i've also applied for several preliminary medicine years (in the same aforementioned cities).
as far as the actual anesthesia programs go, i've applied far and wide- chicago, new york, boston, seattle, OHSU (ahem liz), and some spots in california that will never give me a shot in hell.
anyway. first step done. gonna have some docs proofread my personal statement. i've got two letters of recommendation set up. one's in, one i'm not sure if it's in. need to pick out some anesthesia staff to write me some letters. need to go to bed because the resident i'm working with wants me in at 6am tomorrow. for a 7:30am start. i don't get it either.

god bless the three day weekend. god damn i forgot my camera.
friday night, rob and kate swung through town and we went to the
high noon saloon to meet up with schlarb and check out
screamin' cyn cyn and the pons, whom i'd never seen before. totally worth it. very entertaining band. sort of reminded me of
boris the sprinkler, in terms of music and on-stage theatrics, minus the football helmet with antlers.
i also picked up the new album from
kanye west. haven't listened to the album yet though, because i've been busy watching
maria sharapova beat the skirt off of
sania mirza.
[as an aside: CBS has some song that plays under their maria sharapova montage, which goes something like this: "maria sharapova / girl i'd like to know ya / you can stay at my place, if you need a place to crash / forehand backhand overhead smash" ... someone actually wrote and recorded that song? seriously? where's the sania mirza song? where's the ohio snap song?]
and now, here's the lineup of shows that i would like to see if i didn't actually have to wake up before 6am on most weekdays.
(of note:
of montreal at club 770, tomorrow night)
(of second note: the annex is such a
crap venue {crap website, too})
9/8
heiruspecs at the high noon saloon
9/14
brendan benson at the annex
9/25
clap your hands say yeah at the annex
versus
9/25
the perceptionists, akrobatik and
mr. lif at the high noon saloon
9/27
lyrics born with
the crest at the great dane
9/28
mates of state at the annex
notes:
1. of montreal at club 770, tomorrow night
2. the annex is such a crap venue
3. the crest's new album = hot shit.
4. the perceptionists with ak and lif? as in, they're both opening the show with solo sets? how's that work? shit who cares, i'm there. clap your hands say whaa doesn't stand a chance.
then i board a plane and head for NYC.
