remember bush attacking kerry during the debates, saying that his push for more federal programs and reduced taxation would lead to a "tax gap"? that kerry would never be able to afford all the programs he promised? Bush has now been quoted saying "I earned capital in the political campaign and I intend to spend it." how's that for fiscal responsibility? the new york times reports that the Treasury department has announced it will be borrowing at least $147 billion in the first quarter of 2005, which is a new quarterly record for such an obscene amount. the times estimates that the budget deficit could be greater than $5 trillion over the next 10 years. bush's proposal to make his tax cuts permanent could add another $1 trillion to the deficit in 10 years.
in other news, the
air national guard strafed an elementary school in new jersey, and the bushes got a new dog.
